My Work

My group is focused on using a One Health approach to investigate viral diseases and comparative oncology. Our current research is investigating unidentified hosts of hepatitis E virus, an emerging zoonotic virus that is known to be transmitted to people via pork meat from infected pigs. We also investigate viral neuropathology, with a current focus on SARS-CoV-2 and hepatitis E. We are also using a naturally occurring model of lung adenocarcinoma in sheep to develop ex vivo models of human lung tumours.

Potential Projects

Current projects with the potential for a research project or PhD are:
Evaluation of potential drug targets for hepatitis E virus
Investigation of novel host species for hepatitis E or SARS-CoV-2
Establishment of comparative oncology approaches to characterise naturally occurring animal models of cancer
Other projects and ideas would of course be welcome!
