Our group develops and applies bioinformatics methods to analyse data from high throughput genomics datasets. We developed and maintain the Clustal package which is widely used for sequence alignment. We also collaborate with a range of clinical and basic research groups to analyse RNAseq, Proteomics and DNAseq data. I am a PI in Systems Biology Ireland and a co-PI in the Irish Cancer Society funded Breast Predict Centre in UCD.
The ideal project is one where the student collaborates with a clinical group to collect and analyse OMICS data relevant to a particular disease. We have over 15 years experience in applying and analysing a variety of OMICS type data. Typically a PhD student will be co-supervised by the clinical PI and carry out the data analysis under our supervision.
