Potential Projects

I am an Intensive Care Physician working at St James's hospital. My scientific interest focuses on genetic predisposition to sepsis and pneumonia. Ultimately, my group has conducted research on respiratory sepsis-induced immunoparalysis: and compartmentalized immune response in patients with VAP.

I have active collaboration with other research groups in sepsis and pneumonia. I am currently working on transcriptomic depression of immunological synapse as a signature of ventilator-associated pneumonia analyzed by nanoliter-sized droplet technology paired with digital PCR (ddPCR).

My research questions aims always to ensure practical clinical implications.

I have established a European network and mentored PhD students to further understand the mechanisms in respiratory disease in critically ill patients.
