My Work

We are interested in how the gut talks to the brain to impact on intentional and unintentional weight loss. We are also interested in how intentional weight loss can be used to improve the complications of obesity including diabetes, diabetic kidney disease, obesity related cancers, cardiovascular disease and infertility. These questions have resulted in high impact papers that helped change clinical care pathways:

le Roux CW, et al. 3 years of liraglutide versus placebo for type 2 diabetes risk reduction and weight management in individuals with prediabetes: a randomised, double-blind trial. Lancet. 2017 Apr 8;389(10077):1399-1409.
