Our group uses a combination of computational, laboratory, and in vivo (murine pre-clinical models) approaches to understand the molecular drivers of high-risk childhood and adolescent blood cancers, with a view to developing better therapies. We are particularly interested in understanding how genetic and epigenetic changes affect leukaemia biology and outcome.
We are co-located at Systems Biology Ireland in the School of Medicine in UCD and the National Children’s Cancer Service at Children's Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin. This means that our research is tightly tied to the clinic, helping us to ask relevant scientific questions that are important for patient care. We are heavily involved in clinical translational research both nationally (e.g., the MAGIC-I genomics study at CHI at Crumlin, where I am the research lead for blood cancers) and internationally (e.g., the T-ALL Team Science consortium linked to the pan-European ALLTogether study for leukaemia).
