My Work

My research interests explore the role of blood coagulation and extracellular vesicles in the aetiology, management and therapy of clinical disorders, particularly disorders of pregnancy and venous thromboembolism (VTE). Along with Associate Professor Patricia Maguire, I co-direct the UCD SPHERE Research Group, Conway Institute, UCD (see website)

I lead or collaborate on a number of national and international clinical and translational studies pertaining to VTE. I am Chairperson of the Irish Network for VTE Research (INViTE; www.INViTEresearch.org), launched by Minister for Business, Innovation and Enterprise Heather Humphreys on 12/09/2018. INViTE has recently been made a member of the prestigious INVENT-VTE (International Network of VENous Thromboembolism Clinical Research Network) and opportunities to work with INViTE can be facilitated.
