My Work

The Statistical and Pharmacoepidemiology Research Group in RCSI undertakes research in epidemiology on the quality, safety and prevention of disease in medicines use and epidemiological modelling to inform policy and practice.

Particular areas of research interest include medication adherence and outcomes, quality and safe prescribing and effects on patient outcomes, intervention development, application of statistical methodology to electronic health databases, and epidemiological modelling. The research is complementary to the RCSI strategy for excellence in translational research.

We have particular strengths in our research group including:
 Drug utilisation studies
 Pharmacoepidemiology using large electronic health record datasets and disease registers
 Identification and prevention of adverse drug events
 Adherence to medication and related to health outcome
 Disease epidemiology and molecular epidemiology (breast cancer, cardiovascular disease of particular interest)
 Population health and health services research
 Health behaviour change methods.
