The aim of ongoing research is to determine the role of diet and lifestyle in the primary and secondary prevention of chronic disease. Current approaches include the use of biomarkers to assess dietary intake, nutritional epidemiology, intervention trials using whole food/whole diet approaches with clinically relevant outcomes, studies examining factors determining diet behaviours, and methods to promote long term dietary change.
Professor Woodside is Professor of Human Nutrition at Queen's University Belfast. She has published widely in the nutrition field and has current funding from the Medical Research Council, Wellcome Trust, National Prevention Research Initiative and Safefood. She has supervised >20 postgraduate students successfully, including those with a clinical background.
