The O'Donnell Haemostasis Research Group was initially established in TCD in 2006, and recently moved to become part of the new Irish Centre for Vascular Biology in RCSI. The development of this group has been entirely funded through a series of prestigious program grant awards including Science Foundation Ireland (SFI PIYRA 2006; SFI SIRG Award 2010; SFI PI Award 2011; SFI Pfizer Biotherapeutics Award 2014; SFI CDA Award 2016). Building on this platform, the Haemostasis Research Group has further leveraged additional funding in excess of >€4M from major pharmaceutical companies.
The Haemostasis Research group is now firmly established as an international leader in the field of vascular biology. We have published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers in high impact scientific journals since 2006, including 11 manuscripts in the leading journal in the field (Blood - Impact factor 11.8). On the basis of this reputation, we have also been able to appoint a series of high quality research fellows from established centres of excellence, including Imperial College London, the Rockerfeller Institute in New York, the University of Paris and the Karolinska Institute. Consequently, we have now assembled a critical mass of world-class core expertise within the Haemostasis Research Group.
