The HRB Centre for Primary Care Research has a broad interest in clinical epidemiology and evidence-based medicine. Clinical areas of interest include: medicines management with safe and appropriate drugs; clinical prediction rules (CPRs); computer-based clinical decision support (CDSS’s); health informatics as applied to medicines management.
We have a portfolio of research opportunities in terms of medicines management including implementation studies (randomised controlled trials) of appropriate antibiotic use; preferred drugs; and use of a summary care record for medicines reconciliation. We also have a collaboration with the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine in relation to systematic review of approved drugs using data from Clinical Study Reports (CSRs). We are also involved in collaborations in relation to use of clinical prediction rules (CPRs) in terms of cancer referral and diagnosis.
