My Work

The Stratified Medicine Group at Queen's University consists of Clinicians and Basic Scientific Researchers. It focuses on the following areas:
1) Characterisation of a molecular group in solid cancers that represents an innate immune response to DNA damage.
2) Development of a biomarker for anti-angiogenic agents
3) Development of a biomarker for MEKK pathway activation
4) Identification of a prognostic biomarker for early prostate cancer
5) Development of new cell lines for pre-clinical modelling of ovarian and prostate cancer.
Recent publications have been in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of the National Cancer Institute and Cancer Research (Please see the website for details).

Potential Projects

There are opportunities to work on the development of biomarkers to guide clinical trials in a variety of solid cancer types including breast, ovarian, prostate and lung cancer. The group offers a mix of experience in basic laboratory and applied clinical research.
Example projects:
1) Development of a blood based biomarker to guid ether use of immune checkpoint inhibitors.
2) Development of a blood based biomarker for poor prognosis prostate cancer.
3) siRNA library screening to identify novel drug targets in cancer.
